Many believe they are only loved when others approve of their behavior. They twist scriptures about Jesus love to validate their feelings; when in fact the foundational teaching of scripture tells us that Jesus loved and died for us when we were not approved of and made us approved of God by our transformation from behaviors and sin that separate us from Him. In other words; He loved us enough to tell us that He does not approve of our behavior and we are better than we were living
This mindset has caused many to believe that correction cannot be love because it does not approve of their behavior. When in fact; true love cares enough about one to show them the truth at the risk of offense. Those that resist correction never grow past areas of immaturity they refuse to allow to be confronted. They continue to live in frustration because they cannot excel past a certain point in life; and that point is many times the very area that they refuse discipline in.
